A Dakota northwester has piled snow against the flanks of this rare old octagonal silo spotted by artist Gary P. Miller in western North Dakota near New Salem. the breeze is almost alive as you study his detail-snow haze against the horizon, tattered rope flagging the air. tracks of deer and farmes's pickup filling in with icy powder. Birds soar on the gusts above the silo, once a symbol of plenty, stored against winter days like this one.
